Will 3D Augmented Reality Become the Future of Gaming?

Throughout the years, gamers were able to use less equipment (i.e. just a set of gloves and goggles) to play virtual reality games, but game consoles like Kinect for Xbox 360 still make it difficult for the user to carry to be mobile – carrying around their console, controllers, and sensor.
In this “mobile age” where consumers want, and often expect, the ability to easily take things on the go, virtual gaming is playing catch-up.
A similar technology, Augmented Reality (AR), live, direct, or indirect view of the physical, real world, has been in the public eye since phone manufacturers began putting cameras on headsets, but it hasn’t been used to its fill potential until now.
At this year’s CES, Aurasma, the maker of a virtual reality browser, announced a new 3D engine which will allow developers to create 3D animations to slot into augmented reality applications. Aurasma is set out to make a library of 3D characters and animation so iOS and Android users will be able to point their cameras to buildings, products, animals and be able to look around it. With this capability, gamers would be able to play while walking around their house, and objects would pop out with a realistic approach.
